Debra Adler

Debra Adler is an English Language Development teacher at Montgomery Blair High School, the largest and most diverse High School in Maryland. Specializing in creating and differentiating standards-based curriculum for English learners, Ms. Adler ensures all students have access to high quality, age-appropriate learning.

In 2019-2020, Ms. Adler served as an English Language Fellow living and working in Beer Sheva, Israel, serving high schools throughout the southern region in minority Bedouin communities through on-site teacher development and coaching, and professional development workshops. In addition to teaching, Ms. Adler writes curriculum resources, and participates regularly on curriculum and assessment writing projects in her school district. After completing a VELF curriculum writing project, her materials are being used throughout Israel.

Ms. Adler strongly believes that quality equitable education is a human right, and is committed to promoting learning opportunities. Ms. Adler received her Bachelor of Arts from Barnard College, Columbia University and her Masters in Education from the University of Maryland at College Park.

She is also the mother of three amazing humans, two dogs, and a flock of cats. When outside of the classroom, Ms. Adler enjoys many pastimes including traveling, cooking, eating, photography, cycling, swimming, and yoga.
